Sunny Sweeney - Ten Years Pass

Sunny Sweeney, who is one of the lesser known acts on Big Machine Records, hits us with a signature twangy single entitled “Ten Years Pass”. After stints in comedy and playing small town venues in Austin, Texas she is now taking her chances on the national scene of country music. This single is the first time I have ever heard a song from Sunny Sweeney and I have to say that her voice is very catchy and has a very Texas twang to it which can be a double edged sword in todays country music where there is a mix of traditionalist and the new younger mainstream country crowd. I feel I am somewhat stuck in the middle as I love Sweeney’s voice but the song doesn’t catch me at all, and after numerous listens it doesn’t have a chorus or any part for that matter that makes me think this can be a hit.
In the end it looks to be another single released from a record label that has other more important projects and picked a single that doesn’t have as much backing as it should, and even if it did I am not sure if it was the right single for Sweeney.
