Keith Urban - Sweet Thing
Posted on November 24, 2008 with
As Keith Urban continues to secure himself as a major power in country music he also branches out his songs into pop and rock while still maintaining a country feel. Being able to be so versatile while staying true to your roots is a very hard thing but with his new single “Sweet Thing” he accomplishes it almost perfectly.
“Sweet Thing” which was co-written by Urban himself along with frequent co-writer Monty Powell documents a relationship from the first dates along through the times. The lyrics of “Sweet Thing” were inspired by his wife, Nicole Kidman. The song as said before is pop with a mix of rock and country but still maintains its integrity as a great country song reminiscent of past Urban songs and somewhat reminds me of a Rascal Flatts song. Keith Urban’s sound has been copied by many country rockers throughout the past few years but none have been able to have the same success. Overall I can see “Sweet Thing” being another top hit for Keith Urban and it is a great start to his next studio album which will be named soon.

It reminds me of the old Savage Gardens song…”I Want You”.
Keith has another fun song…but I don’t know if I’d call it Country…

In my humble opion, Keith can do no wrong. His “Sweet Thing” is another example of his exceptional talent. So glad he has his beautiful wife for inspiration.
