John Rich’s Nashville Talent Search

John Rich can remember the time when there were showcases and talent shows every week in Nashville to give those a shot who do not have the major funding or backing that many have and have to do it the old fashion way by working during the day and trying to break into the music industry by night.

There seems to be a great interest in this in Nashville which is not surprising because it is a city built by the dreams of thousands of musicians and with over 200 artists already signed up it looks to be a success already. Rich looks to have the contest the last Monday of every month at 12th and Porter with the first night being March 31st. The opportunities in the music industry seem to keep getting smaller so for many independent musicians this can be a great shot to show what they have and get the attention of the many writers, producers, and industry executives that I am sure John Rich will be pulling to be in attendance.

The grand prize for each night will be $300 from John Rich himself and it will be judged by celebrity judges which have not yet been named. John Rich seems to be trying to insert himself into the talent finding side of country music after his heading up of CMT reality show “Gone Country” attracted some attention. The talent shows will be held the last Monday of each month at 12th and Porter and only 10 musicians or bands will be selected each week for a chance to perform.

I would like more information on your talent contest. How do you select your ten contestants? Is it like the Bluebird you stand outside for two hours so you can be one of the 15 or 25 to sign up or is there a different process. I do not understand the audition process of most talent shows. It is hard to judge someone’s talent based on 30 seconds with no music. a country singer needs reverb. no music with a mike would be ok. I have won as many as I have lost. I learned a long time ago winning or losing a talent contest does not determine your level of talent it is someone’s opinion. I will always still keep singing. It is so fun.
