Eric Church - Lightning

11 February 2008 2 Comments

Eric ChurchEric Church is quickly establishing himself as a true country artist who can put out hit after hit. Lightning is a controversial song with a very heavy blues influence about a convict reminiscing about what he did while he sits on death row for his final few minutes of his life. The song overall may not be a radio friendly hit but I think this song will help establish Eric as one of the top in country music today who can blend a unique variety of country, blues, and southern rock. Eric Church is in my opinion one of the most underrated acts in country music right now with his album “Sinners Like Me” being one of those albums you can listen to from beginning to end. If you are one of those who have not given the album a listen yet then you are missing out on some great music. Lightning is a weird single because of the lack of mainstream potential but still is a very solid song.

Eric isn’t exactly my cup of tea, but he is a little bit if that makes sense. Half his stuff I like, the other half I dislike. But I think Capitol is missing a huge opportunity here, get behind this guy and throw out some promotion power!
