The 2009 CMT Awards are tonight with performances by Trace Adkins, Jason Aldean, Lady Antebellum, Kellie Pickler, Darius Rucker, Dierks Bentley, Toby Keith, Brad Paisley, Rascal Flatts, Sugarland, Keith Urban, Taylor Swift, and Def Leppard. The presenters of the CMT Awards will be Kerry Collins, Kid Rock, Luke Wilson, Toby Keith Ted Nugent, Bill O’Reilly, Randy Jackson, and more. The 2009 CMT Awards will be hosted by comedien Bill Engvall and the events kick off live only on CMT and CMT.com at 8pm EST.

What seems to be a recent trend in country music the legendary Hank Williams Jr. has released his answer to the economy and politics with his song Red, White, and Pink Slip Blues. The song speaks to the now millions out there who have lost their jobs and the struggles they go through on a daily basis just to provide for their family. Red, White, and Pink Slip Blues is a very soulful and bluesy song for Hank Williams Jr. but the lyrics and his voice are perfect to convey the emotions of the song. Carrie Underwood is releasing a remade version of the Motley Crue hit “Home Sweet Home” for when contestants of American Idol are voted off. Over the years many other past American Idol alumni have performed the ending song for when a contestant has been voted off such as Chris Daughtry’s song “Home.” Carrie Underwood’s song “Home Sweet Home” will be available officially on Itunes March 16th and a portion of the proceeds will go to benefit the Humane Society of the United States. The song will premier on American Idol starting on Wednesday March 11th.

A few weeks ago we told you about Rascal Flatts unveiling songs from their new album, Unstoppable, before the full album is actually released. Today they are releasing the first song in the weekly series of early releases entitled “Here Comes Goodbye”. The new song is available now on Itunes. They will continue releasing a new song to Itunes weekly up until the release of the album on April 7th. Below is the full release schedule with each song to be released.
March 17 – “Forever”
March 24 – “Love Who You Love”
March 31 – “Things That Matter”
April 7 – Unstoppable available everywhere music is sold
